Get Involved with Experience Corps Bay Area

Bring ECBA to Your School

The mission of Experience Corps Bay Area (ECBA) is to engage adults 50+ as tutors and mentors to produce outstanding literacy results for children in grades K-3.  Studies show that we have the most educational impact when working with children in these grades.  Working together with our partner schools, we know that we can make a measurable difference in the lives of children and, in no small way, change the future.

We work closely with our Bay Area schools to ensure both a sustainable partnership and that we are addressing strategic priorities.  Once we mutually determine that the program agreements are a fit for everyone – which includes a Memorandum of Understanding – we begin recruiting, screening, training and placing ECBA volunteers to tutor and mentor students in grades K-3.  If requested, we will consider providing tutors in the upper grades, when there is demonstrated need and sufficient K-3 coverage.  If you’d like to explore whether Experience Corps Bay Area would be a good fit for your school please contact our Program Manager, Jeni Johnson at, or call (415) 759-4222.
